Recently you learned that there is no World War I memorial on the Washington Mall while there are memorials for WWII, Korea and Vietnam.  After years of lobbying you and others have worked to create a memorial on the Washington Mall for World War I.  You were selected to design the new memorial for this war.  The new memorial opens next week and you are in charge of creating a brochure for the new site. Use the outline below to help you create an educational brochure for the tourists.

We will only have Wednesday and Friday in class on this project.  The rest must be done on your own!  See me if you need a pass to the Library/Computer lab

  1. Design a World War One memorial and put it on the front of your brochure. (Look at pictures of the Vietnam Memorial and World War II memorial for ideas)
  2. Your brochure should include the following:
    1. A photograph of a World War One Trench.
    2. A diagram of a Trench network.
    3. A brief paragraph description of what conditions were like in the trenches.
    4. Pictures and descriptions of the new weapons/inventions of World War I.
    5. A brief paragraph explaining why America become involved in World War I.
    6. Create a timeline showing the  important battles America was involved in during World War I and who won.  Include pictures of each battle.
    7. Find Five famous Americans in World War I, and tell what they did.  Be sure to include pictures.
    8. A Brief section that tells how life changed for Americans on the Home front during the war. (BE Specific) (use pictures where you can)
    9. Explain the end of the War and the Treaties.
    10. Casualty numbers for America.
  3. Be sure you focus on AMERICA in all areas -- this is an AMERICA'S WARS CLASS.

Be Creative and Have fun!
